SmartSlides© is a HyperCard™ Stack which can serve as the base for the creation and delivery of lectures and presentations. It has a large number of specialized tools to help you create attractive and effective presentations efficiently.
HyperCardΓäó, the parent program from which SmartSlides was developed, is based on the metaphor of cards in a stack, and enables you to review the contents of those cards in or out of sequence. In SmartSlides, it seems more appropriate to think of a series of slides or transparencies in a lecture, rather than a series of cards in a stack, and in this Help facility I will use the terminology of slides and lectures in discussing the special features of SmartSlides.
A SmartSlides lecture is in some respects like, and can be used in place of, a lecture's worth of overhead transparencies, but the slides in SmartSlides can have powerful features which no acetate transparencies or 35mm slides could ever have.
Perhaps the best way to become acquainted with these features is to peruse the remaining cards in this Help Stack, returning from time to time to the Smartslides stack itself to try things out.
SmartSlides has a Smart Help facility. If you hold the option key down while selecting any menu item from any of SmartSlides' new menus, or while clicking any of SmartSlides' command buttons, you will be shown the appropriate card from this Help Stack. Clicking on the return arrow at the lower right of any card in this Help Stack will usually return you to where you were in SmartSlides. I say "usually" because in some cases, if you have moved around inside the Help Stack using its buttons, you may be returned to your earlier place within this Help Stack first. In such cases, repeatedley clicking on the return arrow should quickly retrace your steps all the way back to where you were in SmartSlides.
